About Elsewhere

Some of the best things happen elsewhere.

Off the usual path, outside the obvious category, in the company of people you didn’t expect to meet. That’s the place this studio is named after — and the place it hopes to make room for.

§ 01The founding observation

Some of the best things in life happen when interesting people come together to pursue something they find fascinating.

Modern technology makes it easier than ever to create on your own. One person with a laptop can now build what used to take a team. That’s genuinely wonderful — and it can also be a little lonely.

There’s still something uniquely rewarding about making things together: the idea that only exists because two people argued about it, the craft you pick up by watching someone better than you, the energy of a room where everyone cares.

Elsewhere is an attempt to build that room. A place where talented people can share ideas, challenge one another, collaborate, and bring ambitious projects to life — and have a good time doing it.

§ 02Principles

Seven things we believe.

  1. 1. Curiosity over convention

We explore ideas because they’re genuinely interesting, whether or not they fit an existing market category.

  2. 2. Make real things

Conversation is wonderful, but the point is to turn it into experiments, prototypes, and working products you can hold.

  3. 3. People matter

Great collaborators and lasting friendships are as valuable as anything we ship. Maybe more.

  4. 4. Ambition without unnecessary pressure

We take the craft seriously without rebuilding the exhausting parts of corporate life. No crunch, no theatre.

  5. 5. Human-centered technology

We want to build things that increase agency, curiosity, creativity, and connection — and avoid things that quietly erode them.

  6. 6. Room for the unexpected

Ideas come from everyone involved, and the roadmap bends to fit them. The best next project might be one nobody’s thought of yet.

  7. 7. Enjoy the process

Friendship, learning, exploration, and creative satisfaction are legitimate outcomes in their own right.

§ 03The model

A collective, for now.

Elsewhere starts as an independent, collaborative, part-time creative collective. People bring their time, skills, and ideas because they want to.

We’re happy to pursue projects with real commercial promise. If something takes off, we’ll figure out together what it should become, fairly and in the open. But not everything has to become a business, and nothing is less valuable for staying an experiment.

Elsewhere is

  • Independent
  • Collaborative
  • Part-time and flexible
  • Based in Los Angeles
  • Open to your ideas

Elsewhere isn’t

  • A funded startup
  • A consulting agency
  • An accelerator or incubator
  • A venture fund
  • An employer

Plainly: taking part in Elsewhere doesn’t come with a salary, a contract, or equity. It’s informal and exploratory to begin with. If that ever changes for a particular project, it’ll be discussed openly with the people involved before anything is assumed.

§ 04Who’s behind it

One person, looking for more.

Elsewhere was started by a Los Angeles–based product builder with a background in software, automation, and AI-assisted development — someone who has spent a long time making things alone and would rather make them with other people.

Right now Elsewhere is one person with an idea about how making things could feel, a first experiment, and an open door. No team, investors, or partners yet.

The rest depends on who walks through it.
